In 2004, Brother Abernathy was appointed as the Director of Promotion for Global Missions. Brother Abernathy pastored in Florida and Indiana for over twenty years, and also served as Global Missions director for Indiana. As a teenager, Brother Abernathy went to Africa with his missionary parents, Charles and Janet Abernathy. After graduating from the Bible college in Cape Town, South Africa, he remained there until 1982 when he returned to the States to evangelize.
