Jonathan and Jenny were married in 2010. They served for over ten years as AIMers, Bible College administrators, pastors, and instructors in the UK before receiving their appointment to Sweden. They arrived on the field in August of 2020 and immediately began assisting the work in the capital city of Stockholm. During this time of assisting, the Follmers also worked to establish a center for ministry in the city of Uppsala, where they lived, by holding monthly services, gatherings, and events.
Jonathan was installed as pastor of the church in Stockholm in July 2023. The church is growing and leaders are being trained and released to do ministry work. The Follmers spearheaded a new initiative for an annual Pentecost Weekend beginning in 2023, during which several were filled with the Holy Spirit and baptized in Jesus’ name. Shortly after arrival in Sweden, Brother Follmer facilitated the development of a partnership between the Nordic District and the UK for online Bible College training.
As a result of this partnership, the number of Nordic teaching staff has grown to four, and they now have seven students in Sweden alone. Several others from surrounding Nordic countries have also begun attending. Once they return to the field, the Follmers will be working to expand the local church in Stockholm with city groups and extension works, and further develop the work in Uppsala. In addition, as they gain more skilled teachers in the Nordics, they plan to establish a more fully Nordic Bible College program.
