As a young teenager, Michael Walmer accompanied his missionary parents to Brazil. He began his ministry in 1979 as a youth leader in the district headquarters church. He received his Associate Missionary appointment in 1982 and later married Sis. Ivonne, from the country of Uruguay, in 1984. That same year they founded the church in Rio Grande. In 1986, he took the church pastorate in Novo Hamburgo, southern Brazil, where he pastored for four years. After eight years serving as Associate Missionaries, Brother and Sister Walmer and their firstborn, Jonathan, returned to the USA in 1990 to attend Christian Life College in Stockton, CA. They received their career missionary status and appointment to Brazil in October 1992.

After completing their first deputation, the Walmers returned to Brazil and pioneered a new work in Recife on Brazil’s northeastern tropical coast where their second child, Christian, was born. The Lord gave them a great revival throughout northeastern Brazil. Following God’s leading, Brother and Sister Walmer also applied to the field of Uruguay for dual appointment. During this time, they pastored the headquarters church, directed and taught in the local Bible school, held pastoral seminars, and traveled extensively preaching and mentoring the leadership in both Brazil and Uruguay. In 2021 they changed their appointment to work exclusively in Brazil and have been teaching and training through the GATS faculty seminars in the twenty-seven districts where there are 100+ Bible schools established.

They are also involved in different crusades, leadership seminars, preaching, teaching, and strengthening the fellowship throughout the country. The Walmers have forty years of UPCI missionary service.
