Richard is no stranger to missionary work, as he was born and raised on the Mission Field of Papua New Guinea by his parents, Richard and Margaret Carver. He continued in missions work and has served as a missionary to New Zealand, Fiji,
Australia, and Papua New Guinea. Richard was appointed an AIMer to Fiji in 1993. He met his wife, Andrea, during a speaking engagement in Australia, and they married in Fiji in 1998. Richard and Andrea received Career Missionary appointment in 2022.
During the beginning of his ministry, he spent ten years in Fiji aiding his parents with their mission work. He also pastored the English-speaking church in the capital city, helped establish the national headquarters, and taught in the Bible school. The Carvers then returned to Australia to continue AIM work from 2001 – 2007. In 2007, they returned to Richard’s birthplace, Papua New Guinea, where he worked as the Headquarters Office Manager, conducted leadership training, and performed many functions to assist in the running of the church. In 2012 he was appointed General Superintendent of Papua New Guinea upon his father’s retirement.
Papua New Guinea has seen much development in the form of a new headquarters building and Bible school facilities with Richard as the Project Manager and Administrator. They now have access to high-quality facilities that will help with growth and revival. Additionally, the nation has a training center that is making a positive impact. Richard also serves as the Bible School President. The Carver’s ministry has become that of enabling and training quality leaders and giving them the skills and vision to take the Gospel into places where they could never go.
