Sam grew up in an apostolic home in southeastern Wisconsin, whereas Kristen was raised in a Catholic home in Buffalo, NY. Both moved to Washington, DC to pursue their respective careers where they met and where Kristen embraced the apostolic message. Sam received his Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He spent a decade in government service, leading two-multimillion-dollar research programs and a cadre of scientists. Kristen received her M.Ed. from the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley, serving as a bilingual counselor and teacher in a variety of public, private, and charter schools. While in DC, Sam and Kristen served as Spiritual Development Pastors (Bible studies, small groups, and discipleship classes) under Bishop Jerry Staten before being called to the mission field of Spain.

The Zenobias served approximately two and a half years in Spain under the Associates in Missions (AIM) and Associate Missionary (AMP) programs before receiving an intermediate missionary appointment to Spain. During this time Sam and Kristen worked as the Administrator and Secretary of the Bible Institute in Barcelona, respectively, spearheading a national project to extend the Bible Institutes to previously unreached students through a hybrid-learning concept. They have also served as pastors in youth ministry and assisted in new church plants. Both Sam and Kristen have preached evangelistically and taught at conferences and national churches around Spain, as well as organizing crusade-like events. With the help of the Lord, Sam and Kristen will plant churches in the most under-evangelized, southern region of Spain, and work to strengthen the national Bible Institute program.
