Stephan was raised in Louisiana and Debra in a military home mainly in Europe. Following their marriage in 1992, they moved to Savannah, Georgia, where they worked as youth leaders and young married couples leaders. After the birth of their daughters, they moved to Tennessee to work with, and eventually become assistants to, Bro. Scott Armstrong.
In 2000 they began to feel a calling on their lives to missions. They applied for AIM and in 2002, landed in Athens, Greece. While in Greece (2002-03), they taught home Bible studies and doctrine classes, worked in administration and taught at the Christian school, and helped with building remodeling and maintenance. While on a trip to Cyprus, their burden for that country began to grow. From 2008-2010, they were AIMers in Cyprus. They were appointed Intermediate Missionaries to Cyprus in 2011 and arrived in January 2015. Stephan and Debra’s love for Cyprus, its people, and its unique culture runs deep, and they have been diligently working to learn both the language and culture of this beautiful country. As pioneering missionaries to the “Island of Barnabas”, they are committed to reaching the people, tearing down strongholds, and seeing the people of these ancient cities come to know Jesus. The Summers’ desire is to see works established for His namesake across this country.
